Product Review: Acronis True Image 9.1

"Everybody knows (or should know) performing frequent backups are crucial. Inevitably, some data will be accidentally deleted or your hard drive will fail and you need to be ready, or you will regret it. For this reason, I would highly recommend Acronis True Image to individuals who do not currently have a solid backup process in place."

"You can choose whether to back up everything on the computer or specific files and the next time around add files that have changed, or start again from scratch."

How To Back Up Your Computer's Data

"Before you do anything, get organized, If you aren't doing a full system backup, you'll need to decide which files you want to back up. Figure out what you can't replace easily, and move it into files that are easily found and identified."

Go Forth and Back Up

"There are several ways to back up your computer's hard drive, but generally it requires software and some place to put the data you're backing up — a CD, DVD, separate internal hard drive or external hard drive."

The Ghost Alternative

"When your hard drive fails or your computer starts experiencing some problem that is too tricky to fix, there is nothing like having a full image of your hard drive to recover from. No need to install windows, apps, etc... just restore the image in a single step that takes 5 - 10 minutes and you are right back where you started."

Tools for securing mobile drives

"We hear a lot about the security risks associated with mobile drives — such as laptop hard drives and USB drives — and there's certainly no lack of written policies on the subject. But how can you turn your words into actions and actually make your mobile drives secure?"

Acronis True Image Version 8.0

"Acronis True Image works totally in the Windows environment and can image your system while you continue to work within Windows. For those few situations where a DOS based product is superior Acronis True Image provides the user with the ability to make a rescue disk which works entirely in the DOS environment and provides far more advantages than captioned above."

Acronis True Image 7.0

"Acronis specialises in hard drive housekeeping software and Acronis True Image is the company's offering for saving and restoring complete hard drive images. It runs from Windows, but also includes a facility to prepare a boot floppy or CD, so you can get at the images even when Windows won't load."

Acronis True Image 7.0: Disk Imager with Extras

"Acronis True Image goes even further. Instead of always backing up the entire partition each time, Acronis True Image lets you back up just the changed files. This incremental backup feature will save you lots (and lots) of time depending on how frequently you back up."

Acronis True Image 7.0

"While seemingly something of a sledgehammer approach, this drive-mirroring method makes a lot of sense: should a serious problem befall a PC, resurrection via a drive image can quickly restore it to full working order. A backup regime that focuses only on personal documents and files cannot conjure up the same magic."

PC Magazine
PC Magazine Editors' Awards for Acronis True Image 7.0 and Acronis Privacy Expert Suite 7.0

"Acronis True Image 7.0 offers an innovative interface and powerful features. Its menu-driven wizards are easy to follow, and its help topics explain common tasks in detail." This release of (Acronis) True Image includes incremental backups, which sets it apart from the other drive imaging products in this roundup; this procedure eliminates the need to regenerate an entire archive each time you need a new image."
The Five Star Rating is the highest bestowed by PC Magazine.

Back Up Your Troubles

"...The best way to back up a system is to create an exact image of the system... Sounds simple enough, but making disk images isn't always so simple. As of this writing, both Norton Ghost and PowerQuest Drive Image require you to boot to DOS to make a disk image, so none of your Windows apps are usable during the process... Acronis True Image 6.0 allows users to work on their Windows systems while the image is being made. And because the program works in Windows, not DOS, it can save the image to CD-Rs, external FireWire or USB 2.0 devices, or network drives. You can even burn an image and copy it onto DVD-R discs, which is a great feature. With today's larger drives, backing up to CD-Rs is frustratingly getting reminiscent of the old days when we used to have to back up to floppies..."

Acronis True Image 6.0

"This program has really impressed me. It's been a while since a computer-related product has gotten me this excited. Great features, ease of use, and flawless performance make this quality program an awesome absolute must-have utility. On top of that it is cheaper than Ghost or Drive Image. What else can you ask for? Being a new contender in the US market you'd think it will be hard to compete with the established leaders Symantec and PowerQuest in this category, but TI6 is guaranteed to give them a serious run for their money. I seriously think that a few releases later TI6 will kick Ghost and Drive Image's ass up and down the aisles at Fry's. It is very refreshing to see a great new program like TI6 appear. I strongly recommend Acronis True Image 6.0 to our readers..."

Acronis True Image

"PowerQuest Drive Image and Norton Ghost have traditionally dominated the market for disk-imaging software. However, Acronis True Image is shaking up the status quo with its ability to create an image of a system that's running without shutting down to DOS mode. That trick makes it the most convenient imaging software we've seen to date. Add support for a wide array of storage options and a surprisingly low price, and True Image is tough competition against the longtime powerhouses..."
